The pipeline market is constantly changing with the introduction of new factory coatings to cater for increased operating temperatures, greater water depths, etc. PIH is working with coating material suppliers, specification writers and operating companies to help us provide suitable and relevant field joint coating solutions.

PIH carry out a significant amount of material testing and application procedure qualification work outside of normal pipeline construction activities. One of the major successes of this regime is the “PP Tape Wrap” system that has been extensively and successfully used on numerous projects, where the factory coating has been a 3LPP system. Since the year 2000 the system has been offering full compatibility with PP coated line pipe, high production rates and excellent reeling properties.
